Boston Bruins’ owner Jeremy Jacobs isn’t a fan of the Olympics. More specifically, he isn’t Keen of NHL participation in the Olympics.
With the upcoming Olympics in 2018 happening in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Jacobs doesn’t approve of the forced 2-week pause the league has to undergo when the games begin in February. Jacob’s emphasis is keeping his players energetic and ready, and believes that the Olympics can slow the players down, or worse, injure them.
The NHL has until January 15th, 2017, to make their decision, but it must be noted that many NHL players will not refuse to play for their country. It is considered an honor for them.
