NHL Player Safety fines Rangers forward .

After running New York Rangers' goaltender Henrik Lundqvist behind his net in their December matchup, Dallas Stars' Cody Eakin was evidently a marked man ahead of last night's matchup.
Early in the second period of what ended in a 7-6 victory for the Stars, none other than Chris Kreider took it upon himself to serve Eakin a lesson in what it takes to be one of the NHL's big boys.
The only caveat? Well, there's nothing wrong with a little old-school hockey fight to exact revenge for a teammate, but at what price?
$5,000, apparently.
After ripping Eakin's helmet off of his head and hitting him with it (once) during their scrap, Kreider will be fined $5,000, which is the maximum allowable fine under the CBA.
Was it really worth it, Chris?
