The Nashville Predators and general manager David Poile mean business.

Earlier today, the Predators acquired Brian Boyle from the New Jersey Devils in return for a second round pick in 2019, adding some depth up front.

And they weren't done...

TSN's Pierre LeBrun has reported that Nashville has pulled its second trade of the day, acquiring Cody McLeod from the New York Rangers in return for a seventh round pick in 2020. The insider was awaiting the trade call to make the move official.

The Predators have been looking to add some much needed depth up front, especially since Austin Watson "has been placed in Stage 2 of the NHL/NHLPA joint Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program “for treatment related exclusively to his ongoing issues with alcohol abuse.”

Watson is therefore suspended indefinitely and the Predators needed to remedy the situation up front.

McLeod is now being re-acquired by Nashville after he ended up in Music City in January 2017 in return for Felix Girard. He was later claimed off waiver by Rangers a year later in January of last year. He is expected to fill the void left by Watson's absence.

The veteran gritty forward has one goal and 60 penalty minutes in 31 games with the Rangers this season.

The Predators trail the Winnipeg Jets by three points for top spot in the Central Division.
