The St. Louis Blues know what tough luck is this season, and they had a brutal reminder on Tuesday night.

As they faced the New York Islanders, Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist was injured in the most shocking way behind the rivals' net when he collided with the official. Collided is a soft word: he was concussed by the referee!

The poor Sundqvist suffered a concussion earlier this season, when he was levelled by Washington Capitals controversial forward Tom Wilson during the preseason. Unfortunately, he might dealing with a second one in less than a year after this brutal collision.

The Blues forward appeared to have lost an edge and ran into the referee Ghislain Hebert, who stood his ground on the play. Sundqvist's head came straight into collusion with the ref's elbow and elbow pad on the sequence as he went down hard. He was helped off the ice by some teammates and the team's trainer as fans looked astonished by what they just seen. So will you when you take a look at the hit:

According to Islanders insider Arthur Staple of The Athletic, it is the second time in two games that an opposite player has caught an edge on the ice and ended up injuring themselves by colliding with an official.

The worrisome thing for Sundqvist is obviously his history with concussions. The poor guy's neck snapped back and it does not bode well for a guy with his history of head trauma...

A strange and unfortunate injury for the Blues' forward.
