A National Hockey League team that has been struggling and losing fans year after year has finally and mercifully been sold to a new owner.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman is now reporting that Carolina Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos Jr. has reached a purchase agreement with Dallas billionaire Tom Dundon.

While the details of that agreement may not come to light for some time still, we believe that Dundon will take over as the majority owner of the Hurricanes organization. Hopefully his leadership will help restore the Hurricanes to their former level of success and move them away from this embarrassing era of empty arenas night in and night out.

The transaction is expected to take a few weeks to officially finalize with the National Hockey League likely wanting to meticulously look over the details of the sale.

According to Friedman NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has adamantly and emphatically informed him that “this is not a team that will be moved.”

More to come on this story as it develops.
