The Nashville Predators have started their relationship with defenseman P.K. Subban by stripping him of a very valuable asset in his contract.

According to a report from General Fanager, the Predators have officially rejected the no-movement clause in Subban's contract. The no-movement was only scheduled to kick in on July first, which is what allowed the Canadiens to trade him in the first place, and as per CBA rules Nashville is not obliged to honor it.

From General Fanager:

If the Player is Traded or claimed on Waivers prior to the no-Trade or no-move clause taking effect, the clause does not bind the acquiring Club. An acquiring Club may agree to continue to be bound by the no-Trade or no-move clause, which agreement shall be evidenced in writing to the Player, Central Registry and the NHLPA, in accordance with Exhibit 3 hereof.

So while Subban signed a massive new deal with a no-movement clause as a member of the Habs, he will have no such luxury in Nashville, although it seems unlikely that will trade him anytime soon.
