The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired goaltender Frederik Andersen from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for one of their first round picks this year(30th) and a second round pick next year.

The report first broke via ESPN insider Pierre Lebrun and has sinced been confirmed by some of the league's top insiders including TSN's Darren Dreger, making this deal as good as official.

For Toronto it's a massive acquisition, a young and proven National Hockey League goaltender that can be reliably backstop your team for the considerable future, albeit at a very steep price.

Say what you will about this organization historically, they have been making all of the right moves, and this appears to be yet another big shift in the right direction for Toronto.

There were two early trades today, the first a deal involving multiple picks between Stanley Cup Finalists San Jose Sharks and the Arizona Coyotes, as well as a trade that sent the top college prospect and Hobey Baker award winner from Nashville to the Buffalo Sabres.
