A National Hockey League defenseman is reportedly facing a meeting that could determine whether or not he plays again this season.

Ottawa Senators defenseman Chris Wideman was injured earlier this month when he collided with Pittsburgh Penguins' forward Evgeni Malkin. The collision caused Malkin to fall awkwardly on Wideman, resulting in a torn hamstring for the latter.

Now, according to Sportsnet insider Eric Engels, the 27-year-old blue liner will meet with doctors on Thursday in order to determine whether or not he needs surgery to repair the damage to his leg.

According to Engles if that surgery is indeed necessary it could mean the end of Wideman's season and considering the Senators have not won a game since his injury, that's not good. Although consider Wideman was basically folded in two, it's not all that surprising.
