Breaking: Veteran forward may be leaving the league for KHL offer.

This is very surprising.

It's hard to believe there isn't a National Hockey League team that could use this guy on a 1-year league minimum type of contract.

According to a report from TSN insider Darren Dreger, there is now a belief that 32 year old NHL veteran James Wisniewski may be leaving for an offer in the Kontinental Hockey League after being released from his professional tryout with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Wisniewski is coming off major surgery, and it's believed that the reason behind the Lightning cutting him was his need for more time to get back into game shape, rather than the questions about his ability to perform again at the NHL level. Dreger has also made it clear that any offer Wisniewski takes in the KHL would merely be a way for him to showcase his skills for a potential return to the NHL.

Obviously Wisniewski missed all of last season after blowing out his knee in Carolina's season opener, but he's only one more season removed from a 69 game season where he put up 34 points, and again it's hard to believe there isn't an NHL club that couldn't afford to take the risk on a league minimum type of deal to secure him before he leaves for the KHL.
