A trade on Wednesday in the NHL!

We have a small trade in the National Hockey League, but hopefully this is the one that will break the dam and open the flood gates prior to the expansion draft.

According to an official announcement from the Los Angeles Kings, the team has acquired the rights to former Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick Bokondji Imama from the Lightning in exchnage for a 7th round draft choice.

From the Kings official announcement:

The LA Kings have acquired the rights to unsigned draft choice Bokondji "Boko" Imama (boh-khan-JEE, ih-MA-ma) from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for the Kings seventh-round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.

The trade is conditioned on the Kings signing Imama to an NHL contract before Thursday's (June 1) 2 p.m. PT signing deadline.

Imama was the leading scorer for the QMJHL's Saint-John's Sea Dogs this past season, picking up 41 goals and 14 assists in just 66 regular season games. While he was drafted by the Lightning, that organization was either never able to or never desired to sign him to a contract, which has resulted in the Kings acquiring his rights alone.

The Kings will have to get Imama to agree to a contract with them if they wish to be able to add him to their roster.
