Zdeno Chara has been the captain of the Boston Bruins since 2006. He was nominated by his team for the Bill Masterton Trophy, the award for the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

As the Boston Bruins are officially out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, many things remain unsure for the big bad B’s. Zdeno Chara, 40-years old, has one more year left to his contract (2017–2018) before being a UFA.

As reported by Joe Haggerty, Boston Bruins insider, Zdeno Chara said he’d be open to signing a contract extension after July 1 & that’s he aiming to play beyond his final contract year
