Bruins’ Cassidy dares to compare Marner to the greatest hockey player in the world!

Who is he trolling? The Leafs or his own team and fans?

It was the time for the Toronto Maple Leafs to answer to all the doubts that they couldn’t break the Boston Bruins in their first round series, however, the Canadian team sent a strong message last night with a 4-1 victory.

Mitch Marner scored twice, including one on a short-handed penalty shot. William Nylander and John Tavares, who scored in an empty net, had the other goals for Toronto.

Message sent.

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy also had something to say in his post-game conference, however, it might not please his fans to hear it.

Cassidy talked about the speed of the Toronto team and made a stunning comparison when talking about Marner. The Bruins bench boss compared Marner to the Great One Wayne Gretzky, saying that he’s hard to touch with his speed and elusiveness.

“Toronto is a fast team. Clearly that shouldn’t be a surprise. We need to do a better job of getting that message across for Saturday,” he added about the game and what needs to be done ahead of Game 2 on Saturday.

Marner, who scored the Leafs’ first goal on a penalty shot in the playoffs since Mats Sundin back in 1999, led the Maple Leafs with nine points in last year’s series with the Bruins.

Once again, he is the one the Bruins need to look out for. And Cassidy, despite his stunning comparison, also realized his players will need to find out how to shut him down.

“We need to find an answer to him,” Cassidy also said of Marner.

Let’s see what that answer is on Saturday night for Game 2.
