Kevin Weekes is the only one reporting it so far, but it looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins will be headed to Boston to take on the Bruins in the 2023 Winter Classic at Fenway Park.

On Twitter, Weekes revealed the game will be played on January 2nd.

It didn’t take long for fans to react: the Penguins be headlining yet another NHL Winter Classic?

The Penguins last played outdoors in 2019 when they played the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stadium Series at Lincoln Financial Field. On top of that, the Pens headlined the inaugural Winter Classic was played in 2008 against the Buffalo Sabres. In 2011, the Penguins hosted the Winter Classic at Heinz Field, which marked the starting point of Sidney Crosby’s nearly two-year battle with a concussion.

And now it seems like the Penguins will return to an outside rink to face the Bruins in Boston…

Some fans are upset as the 2023 Winter Classic is trending, saying that different teams should get a shot at playing in such extravagant setting and special occasions.

The Bruins too are no strangers to the Winter Classic. Fenway Park hosted it back in 2010, and Boston also got it in 2016 in Foxborough at the home of the NFL’s New England Patriots. They also played in the Winter Classic in 2019 from Notre Dame stadium.

There is no doubt that tickets will get sold in a heartbeat!
