Canucks on the verge of making terrible roster decision…

Already shaking my head…

This seems like panic. Nothing good is ever accomplished in a state of panic.

This is what the Vancouver Canucks might find out soon enough.

It has been reported that Alexander Edler might not be coming back to Vancouver and that his time as a Canuck has come to an end.

Edler is still without a contract for next season and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He can begin talking to other teams on June 23, when the NHL’s interview period for unrestricted free agents opens.

While the veteran defenseman has also mentioned his desire to stay in Vancouver, it seems like neither he or the Canucks can come to an agreement on an extension.

And so, GM Jim Benning is looking at a Plan B, however, it sounds like a terrible decision is looming.

It has been reported that talks are getting louder in Vancouver when it comes to signing Jake Gardiner or Tyler Myers, per Sportsnet's Rick Dhaliwal. Both Gardiner (Maple Leafs) and Myers (Jets) are coming off expiring contracts and are looking to test the free agency market.

Sportsnet 650’s Dan Riccio reports that Gardiner is interested – though it’s in his best interest to listen to all offers, which means it will all come down to money.

Fans will surely be upset to hear that the Canucks could be betting a high price on Gardiner, whose defensive issues simply can’t be ignored…

As for Myers, he could remind them of former Canucks blue liner Erik Gudbranson - a big physical guy - but we all know how that turned out… And he won’t be cheap either…

Who would you rather have between Gardiner and Myers? Neither?

Plan C?
