Coyotes are handed most humiliating blow in new arena saga!
This is embarrassing for the NHL…

As you know by now - and yes, it’s been talked about so much since the announcement - the Coyotes will play at a new arena on the campus of Arizona State University beginning next NHL season.
The facility will have a capacity of around 5,000 fans per game, which is about 10k fewer people than the next smallest NHL venue.
And now to make things worse, the Coyotes don’t even get priority at the arena!
The Arizona State University Sun Devils, who play in the NCAA, look to have had priority in terms of dates for next season when you take a look at their calendar for the upcoming campaign.
The university team – which plays fewer games than any NHL team - plays mainly on weekends. On Tuesday, the Sun Devils posted their schedule for 2022-23 and let’s just say the Coyotes weren’t given much consideration in the set up of this one.
The Sun Devils will play a total of 24 home games, a very high number for an American college team - at home, which they shared with the Coyotes.
Take a close look at the schedule: the Coyotes will only get one weekend at home in October, and none in January: all weekends will be reserved for the Sun Devils.
Imagine being an NHL franchise, not having an arena of your own, and now being forced to play in a 5,000 seat arena and getting less time than a college team in home ice.
We will find out the full calendar of the Coyotes in June or July. But you already know they will have to fight to play in front of a smaller crowd of fans…
