The World Championships had a great deal of implications for many National Hockey League teams, but perhaps no fans were more invested than those in Winnipeg.

The Jets had one of their top young forwards playing for Winnipeg's routing interest, Team Canada, in the form of Mark Scheifele and there was also the rumored second overall pick in this year's draft to keep an eye on, Finnish sensations Patrik Laine.

Both men played a big role in helping their respective squads reach the eventual final, with Scheifele and Team Canads prevailing in the end. For his part Scheifele had a very impressive four goal and five assist performance while playing sound on his back end as well, finish +8 for the tournament.

As good as Scheifele was, it was the man who is expected to be a future Jet that was turning heads at the tournament. Laine earned himself MVP honors, although based on his reaction after losing in the final it will be little solace for the young man. He finished with 7 goals and 5 assists in the tournament, and showed the entire world how badly he wants to win in the process.
