A huge shock! Ok... not really.

In the least surprising move of the year the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association has named the Red Wings rookie of the year.

Of course the player who received the award was none other than rookie sensation Dylan Larkin, who had an incredible season especially when you take into account how much the team around him struggled at various points through the regular season and the playoffs.

Larkin's rookie campaign saw him put up a very solid 45 points, including 23 goals, and was the first real sign that the new guard of the Red Wing's offense had arrived and would be pushing forward in the future. Larkin as always was humble despite the achievement.

“It was an exciting year for me personally, being able to wear the winged wheel and skate alongside great players who I grew up watching,” said Larkin, as per The Detroit News.

“Playing for the Red Wings was a dream come true, and I’m looking forward to working hard this summer to get better for next season.”

A well deserved award for the young man.
