The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed free agent goaltender Dylan Ferguson to a professional tryout (PTO) contract.

The 23 year old netminder is a former 7th round pick of the Dallas Stars (2017) but was shipped to the Vegas Golden Knights in a 2017 deal for defenseman Marc Methot. He has played just half a period of NHL action and has primarily played for Vegas' AHL and ECHL affiliates over the past three seasons. He was surpassed on the team's depth chart by Logan Thompson last season and evidently the Golden Knights didn't see enough of a future in him to retain his rights this offseason.

Ferguson, a native of Lantzville, BC just north of Nanaimo, played in 13 games with the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights last season putting up a 5-4-0 record with a 2.90 GAA and .907 save percentage.
