The Avalanche might be the one who should throw in the towel!

The Calgary Flames managed to shut out the Colorado Avalanche 4-0 on Thursday to win Game 1 of their first-round series and it was all because starting goalie Mike Smith was dialled up. He made 26 saves to earn the first shutout of the postseason this spring.

This got Avalanche forward Matt Calvert quite angry towards the end of the game. The pest got tangled up with defenseman Travis Hamonic and the two men starting exchanging blows before the linesman got them separated.

Calvert was obviously trying to send the message and set the scene for Game 2, which will take place Saturday night again at the Saddledome, however one Flames fan also had a message for Calvert.

He should throw in the towel.

We believe that’s what he meant as the fan threw his gifted Flames towel in Calvert’s face as he walked out in the tunnel after being ejected from the game.

The Avalanche forward did not appreciate and attempted to throw it back into the crowd, however, they didn’t care. They were so loud and excited by the shutout win that this fan is surely glad to have lost his game towel.

The Flames and their fanbase is ready for Game 2. Let’s see how the Avalanche and Calvert respond back.
