Flyers get duped by fake Bob McKenzie account announcing Simmonds for Talbot trade!

We can understand how the Philadelphia Flyers and team insider Sam Carchidi of the Inquirer felt when this fake blockbuster trade was broken down... However in his case, it is quite embarrassing... 

Carchidi is a team insider for the Flyers and is usually one of the first insiders to share major moves or decisions made by the team. And so, he was shocked to see that the great Bob McKenzie of TSN was coming out with one hell of a news on Monday. According to Carchidi, who demanded more information directly to McKenzie on Twitter, TSN had announced that Wayne Simmonds has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers in return for goalie Cam Talbot and right winger Jesse Puljujarvi. It seems that Carchidi even checked with the Flyers and management, who denied the rumor. 

However, there were no rumours to begin with... 

McKenzie replied back to Carchidi, explaining that no story was ever published on the TSN's website or on social media. He even asked the Flyers insider to contact TSN and if there was more to it. 

"I’m told TSN says there is no truth to your report that says TSN reported it. None of our insiders/reporters are aware of this “report”  TSN. ca says nothing was posted. No story posted, no story removed, according to our people. If that’s incorrect, let us know."

The two insiders eventually sorted it out, with the help of some fans who investigated the Twitter feed. We all face fake accounts and fabricated screen shots - and some of us get caught. This is exactly what took place: Carchidi was duped by a fake account linked to TSN and its most successful insider Bob McKenzie. 

Carchidi ended the saga with: "Thanks, Bob. It got the attention of the Flyers’ brass, which I guess is what some loser was trying to do."
