Don’t look now but the NHL’s Draft Lottery goes down tonight, with the winning team earning top spot in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver later this summer.

The Colorado Avalanche, by virtue of possessing the Ottawa Senators’ first round pick, have the greatest odds of selecting first overall with just 18.5% lottery odds. The Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils each have a greater than 10% chance of picking first overall, while the rest of the NHL’s non-playoff teams have diminishing odds, with the Montreal Canadiens having just 1% odds.

The prize at stake: 17 year old prodigy Jack Hughes.

The brother of Vancouver Canucks rookie Quinn Hughes, Jack is a highly skilled centerman who managed 12 goals and 48 points in just 24 games with the U.S. National Development Program team of the USHL this season.

Here’s a sneak peek at him:

Oh… and about those Vancouver Canucks… you can bet that the organization and its fanbase will be watching the NHL Draft Lottery ping pong balls closely tonight, and they’ll be hoping and praying that they get the opportunity to draft Quinn’s little brother. It just so happens that Jack himself is a fan of the Canucks, as well.

Check out this photo from Quinn’s draft day last summer:

Earlier today Jack had some praise for another Canucks rookie, superstar Elias Pettersson.

It’s fate, Canucks fans. Two legendary brothers retire in Vancouver one year, two legendary brothers join the franchise the next year. Oh… and the draft is in Vancouver… come ON, Hockey Gods!
