Jarome Iginla is missing one thing before he hangs up his skates, a Stanley Cup. 

According to freelance reporter Chuck Gormley, Colorado Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic is actively working on a deal that would send the future Hall of Famer to a contending team.

According to ESPN'S Pierre LeBrun, the Los Angeles Kings have expressed interest in the veteran.

The 39-year old winger revealed that he has spoken candidly with Sakic about his desire to finish his career on top.

"Joe(Sakic) has been really good to me and he says he'll try to make that happen. It's not always a given, there's not much time left."

The former 50-goal scorer came close to winning the Cup in 2004 as a member of the Flames, but lost in Game 6 in a controversial match.

Iginla has a trophy case full of awards he has accrued including two "Rocket" Richard Trophys and an Art Ross Trophy. The Avalanche have been out of the running for some time now and Sakic is trying to accomodate another legend of the game.

This trade would be a courtesy to Iginla, even if the return would be small for his services.

There is no doubt seeing Iginla hoist the Cup to cap his impressive career would be a storyline any fan could appreciate.
