Gotta See It: Carlyle RIPS INTO Preds' staff

Is he serious? Or just playing playoff mind games?

If you merely glanced at the box score for last night’s 2-1 victory for the Nashville Predators over the Anaheim Ducks, you may have assumed it was a close hockey game. In fact, the Preds had 2 disallowed goals and outshot the Ducks by a whopping 2 to 1 margin. The ironic thing? It wasn’t the final score that Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle was interested in discussing after the loss. He was more interested in discussing the accounting practices of the Preds stats keeper.

When asked about getting outshot by the Preds 40-20, Carlyle scoffed and said, “Well, I think the shots against tonight, I just have on tidbit that at one point it was 9-8 for us. And on one flurry it went to 14. So … I don’t know how is counting the shots.” Not clear on what Carlyle’s getting at here? He elaborated even further, saying “I didn’t think they had five shots on net, then next thing you know they’ve got 14. It was out of sequence. There was one sequence, I think, they got one shot and a little bit of a scramble, and all of a sudden they had four more shots at it. I don’t know who was keeping it, but he better get a pair of glasses.”

So, just to get this straight, Carlyle’s team got outshot 40-20 in a pivotal playoff game and his concern isn’t with defensive play, but rather the Preds’ shot accounting? Whatever the case, Carlyle and the Ducks will have to bring a better effort if they expect a more favorable outcome in game 4.
