When the Vancouver Canucks officially unveiled Travis Green as the 19th head coach in team history, the rookie bench boss had some interesting comments regarding his new team.

Regarding his expectations for a group that finished 29th overall in 2016-17, Green said, “I expect a lot out of my players. I’m demanding. Expectations will be high.” This seemingly flies in the face everything that Canucks fans have been led to believe about the team moving forward, but Green followed up his statement by saying, “I want (my players) to trust me. I want the best for my players, I want them all to succeed…and I want to develop a culture that breeds winning and that takes some time.” He would also go on to describe the team as being in a “transition era”. Interesting choice of words.

It remains to be seen whether Green is successful during the “transition era” in Vancouver, but what will be most interesting is seeing how he and the team’s management define success moving forward.
