He can do damage

Not to be taken lightly

One player that surprised a lot of people last night against the Habs was the 5-foot-9 Austin Czarnik. NHL clubs were worried about drafting him due to his height and weight at 160 pounds, and usually skipped over him. The Boston Bruins did not draft him either. Instead, they signed the 23-year old center to an entry-level contract on March 31st, 2015.

What Czarnik lacks in height and size, he makes up in speed, creativity, hockey sense, and willingness to battle. Last night, he burned past Andrei Markov to pick up a loose puck, and shot it over Al Montoya’s shoulder, netting himself a goal.

Some may argue that Czarnik is skilled to play in the league as of right now. However, his natural position is center, and the Bruins have a lot of depth in that spot. This doesn’t mean he won’t be able to play the wing. He’s the type of player that puts the team’s need above his, and would still make things happen.

I’d keep an eye out on him for the days to come, as he is a joy to watch on the ice.
