Head coaches rarely say outright that their team is a Stanley Cup contender.

In Bruce Boudreau’s case, the 61-year-old believes his team can win within the next two years. With an astonishing 409-192-80 regular season record, the recently-hired Minnesota Wild told NHL.com that it’s only a matter of time before the window closes on that opportunity.

Boudreau has a less-than-stellar 52.1 winning percentage during the postseason, having helped the Anaheim Ducks and the Washington Capitals win 38 games of the 73 he spearheaded during the playoffs.

With Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, and Ryan Suter all over the age of 30, Boudreau will have to obtain better performances from Eric Staal, Chris Stewart, Jason Pominville and Jonas Brodin in order to make his dreams come true.
