The NHL playoffs picture is changing the most unpredictable race in sports right now. Long forgotten a month ago, the Philadelphia Flyers are back in the chase with 4 consecutive wins.

General manager Ron Hextall could be in a difficult position with his team in the chase, but lacking some important pieces. Although Hextall knows that is team needs reinforcement, he knows that he doesn't want a playoff spot this year by compromising the organization's future:

"If we can improve our team in any way without mortgaging the future, we'll look at it. I mean, if young players can make us better, of course we'll look at it. My job is to look at everything that's out there, look at the whole landscape, and to the best of my ability, make our team better. So you can never say never with everything, but we're not going to deal our young players for middle-aged or older players."

It must be nice to see for the Flyers' fanbase, who saw past general managers make some questionable decisions with young players and draft picks.

The Flyers are 29th offensively this year and could use all sort of help to score goals, but Hextall knows that the team is in no rush, especially with the young players that are in the system.
