Bruins may be down a man.

The Boston Bruins are just hours away now from boarding a plane to Canada where they will play out the entirety of the Stanley Cup Playoffs inside one of two bubbles set up by the National Hockey League. In the case of the Bruins their journey will begin in Toronto, home of the Maple Leafs, but as of right now it sounds like there is still some uncertainty regarding who will be traveling with the team to that bubble.

Both forwards David Pastrnak and Ondrej Kase have been notably absent from the Bruins training camp that began on July 13th and on Saturday Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy was asked to provide an update on the status of players who had been absent as of late, including of course Kase and Pastnrak. It was then that Cassidy revealed that he was still unsure whether or not Kase would be travelling with the team when they board that plane to Toronto, although the updates on Pastrnak and Bruins forward Nick Ritchie were much more positive.

"Pastrnak and Ritchie I believe with be traveling, Kase I'm not sure," admitted Cassidy. "That's the best I've got I guess we will get a confirmation on that tomorrow. That's my understating."

This is mostly good news for the Bruins but it does leave some doubt about what the availability of the newest member of the team will be moving forward. We have already seen players that have dealt with positive tests for COVID-19 return to their team, players like Leafs forward Auston Matthews and Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford, so if that is indeed what has sidelined Kase it seems fair to suggest that he should become available at some point, although when that might be is anyone's guess at this stage.

Cassidy did state that the Bruins will have some kind of confirmation on that front on Sunday, but I suspect if Kase does not travel with the team we will still be left wondering when he may return.
