Karl Alzner has missed the last two games of the Washington Capitals first round playoffs series. He has been out with an upper body injury. This injury ended his NHL streak of 599 consecutive games. On Wednesday night Nate Schmidt replaced Alzner, playing with John Carlson.
With the series tied 2-2 this game will predict which team will have the upper hand going forward. This series has been so tight that all four games have been decided by one goal. Alzner in the line-up would definitely be beneficial to the Caps, he is big and powerful on the ice. Though in his first two playoffs games this year he was unable to put up any points, he brings experience to the team as he has played 59 straight playoff games in his career. As of now, his status for Game 5 remains unclear, he has been listed as day-to-day. If he does not make a return tonight, Schmidt will again take his place.
