Despite the rumors that Montreal is "aggressively pursuing" a trade for Jonathan Drouin, the Canadiens may not want to pay the price that it would require to convince the Lightning to trade him to another Eastern Conference team.

According to a recent radio interview featuring hockey insider Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet's 590 The Fan, several teams are currently watching Drouin, and he believes this week end will be a showcase of Drouin, which could eventually lead to him being dealt for the right offer. Friedman believes injury concerns surrounding Drouin may be caused some hesitation.

"He needs to play to prove to people he's healthy," said Friedman. "The worst thing that could happen is, they could take somebody off their roster and trade for Drouin, and then he can't play.

Friedman believes several teams will be watching, including some Western Conference teams, an option that may be more attractive to general manager Steve Yzerman. Regardless of where he gets traded, Friedman believes a good showcase this week end could result in a quick trade.

"I think the St. Louis is kind of one of them that's interested in Drouin."

"I think they are gonna go down, and some other teams are gonna dgo down, and they are gonna see him skate, and they are gonna see him do three on three, and if Drouin hold's up and he looks pretty good I think there's a chance you could see him get moved pretty quickly."
