Edmonton Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl sent the City of Edmonton into a panic on Saturday when an interview he participated in during a soccer game in his home country of Germany went viral for all of the wrong reasons.

You see Draisaitl has already been ruled out for the remainder of the regular season after he was injured following a hit courtesy of Nashville Predators forward Ozzy Wiesblatt roughly one week ago. During the interview however, Draisaitl's comments appeared to imply that his absence would extend into the Stanley Cup playoffs.

"It will definitely take a few weeks. I hope we go far enough so I can help the team again," said Draisaitl as per Ben Heckner of Sky News.

The idea that Draisaitl could miss one, or several, rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs is obviously a huge cause for concern but on Saturday night National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman stamped out some of those understandable concerns. According to Friedman, there has been no setback and Draisaitl appears to be on the same timeline that would see him return around the end of the regular season.

"He had a quote that sent Oilers fans into a real panic," said Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "I looked into it and the Oilers aid this past week said that if everything goes as scheduled he will be back around the end of the regular season, that timeline right now has not changed. I know and understand why Oilers fans were in a panic, and I know why they were really upset about this, but as long as he goes through everything in rehab properly... the feeling is the timeline hasn't changed."
