Insider hints at possible Luongo return for Panthers

It’s been just over a month since future Hall of Famer Roberto Luongo announced his retirement from professional hockey. The former Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks and New York Islanders goaltender made the announcement just as you’d expect, with an epic Twitter post.

Luongo walks away from the game as one of the best goaltenders of his generation and is almost guaranteed a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame once he’s eligible in 2023. But… what’s he going to do in the meantime?

Panthers insider George Richards coyly suggested that Luongo could be fit for a position with the team’s broadcast team, especially now that long-time color analyst Denis Potvin has retired.

There’s no denying that Luongo would be an absolute natural. He’s tremendous behind a microphone and obviously has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Stay tuned.
