Jake Virtanen signs 2 year deal.

Former National Hockey League forward Jake Virtanen has been going through what can only be described as an extremely tumultuous period in his professional hockey career, but thankfully for the veteran forward it sounds like he may have found himself some stability.

According to a report from EHC Visp, a professional hockey team based in Visp, Switzerland that currently competes in the Swiss League, Jake Virtanen has agreed to sign a 2 year deal with their organization as he looks to get his playing career back on track.

Back in 2021 Virtanen saw his contract bought out by the team that had initially drafted him, the Vancouver Canucks, a move that came while Virtanen was embroiled in a serious sexual assault scandal. That scandal would derail Virtanen's career and would eventually result in him being charged and it wasn't until July of 2022 when a 12 person jury rendered a verdict of not guilty that Virtanen was able to clear his name of any wrongdoing.

Virtanen would try to relaunch his NHL career following the verdict, and even signed a professional tryout offer with the Edmonton Oilers, but unfortunately it was clear during training camp that he had lost a step after so much time away from the NHL.

Now with a 2 year deal Virtanen will be able to settle in for a period of time and will no doubt try to hone his skills in Switzerland before taking another stab at the NHL, should he receive such an opportunity in the future.
