Tough news for former NHL dynamo and fan favourite Jaromir Jagr today. The team he plays for and owns, Klado of the Czech Extraliga, lost a relegation game against Litvinov. What this means is that Kladno has now been knocked out of the top-tier of hockey in the Czech Republic and will start next season in the Chance Liga, the country's second-tier league. The final score of the game was 6-2

While Jagr's professional career has been seemingly endless, one can't help but wonder whether this was finally it for the now 48-year-old. Despite his age, Jagr still managed to have a pretty good year, scoring 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points in 37 games.

Jagr is, of course, one of the most notable names of the modern era of the NHL, or any era for that matter. Despite leaving mid-way through his career for three seasons in the KHL of Russia, he still played a total of 1733 NHL games, recording 1921 points (766 goals, 1155 assists). He's second overall for all-time points in the NHL, sitting behind Wayne Gretzky, who has a sizable lead over everyone else. He sits fifth in all time assists and third for goals.

In an interview earlier this year, Jagr would not reveal one way or the other whether this would be his last season in professional hockey. If it is, you have to think this would put a damper on his send-off. We'll see what the summer brings.
