They had to before it’s too late!

At the start of the season, many people already pictured the Winnipeg Jets clinching a playoff spot and having a long run into it. While the Jets will take part in the postseason, something has to change if they want to make it far this year…

Other teams have really put the metal to the pedal and made impressive runs to get ready for the playoffs. The Jets are simply not having with their latest performance and finally hit a breaking point on Tuesday night after a 5-1 defeat that brought their season record against Minnesota to 0-5.

They had enough and held a closed-door team meeting.

“We’re not very proud of our game right now and it’s the style of game that we’re playing. So, they recognize that clearly and thought it was a good time to chat about it,” head coach Paul Maurice said via the Winnipeg Free Press .
“It would be far (more) of a concern if after Game 80, you weren’t concerned.”

The Jets have had to deal with many injuries. Defenseman Josh Morrissey has been out since Feb. 24 with still no timeline for a return and his fellow blue liner Dustin Byfuglien has been sidelined quite a lot this season. He missed all of January, came back for five February games, and just returned to action again last Saturday after being out since Feb. 14.

Winnipeg made a great move at the deadline by acquiring Kevin Hayes from the New York Rangers, and their top players can compete in this star-driven league.

However, they all need to be on the same page as the playoffs fast approach. With two games left in the regular season, it’s time to get things right on track and ready for the tough run ahead in the West.

We hope the closed-door meeting will helP because the playoffs are right around the corner...
