A big commitment to a consistent player.

The Winnipeg Jets have made a long term commitment to one of their more consistent veteran forwards.

The team official announced on Thursday that it had come to terms on a four year contract extension with Mathieu Perreault, Perreault will earn an average annual value of $4.125 million over the course of his new deal.

The former 6th round pick has demonstrated he provides quality depth up the middle for the Jets, putting up 41 points in both of his seasons since coming over from Anaheim, where he had put up 43 points the previous season.

Perreault is 28, and the only potential negative here is the length of the deal taking him in to his early thirties, but the positives, including the intangibles of having a quality veteran center around with players like Patrik Laine coming up in your system far outweigh the potential negatives of this deal.
