Johnny Gaudreau was named the first of the NHL during the month of December.
His 12 goals were ranked first in the league and he helped the Flames to a 9-4-0 record, establishing a new franchise record with 11 straight victory at home.
Gaudreau also scored two hat-tricks the last month.
The small, but explosive forward declared that it was an honour to receive the NHL's first star of the month.
