Kings confirm the worst for Drew Doughty

The Los Angeles Kings announced today that star defenseman Drew Doughty will miss the remainder of the pre-season and the playoffs while recovering from wrist surgery.

Obviously this is a huge blow to the Kings, especially since they're desperately clinging on to a playoff spot in the tight Western Conference playoff race. Doughty hasn't played a game since March 10th, which just so happens to coincide with the Kings' recent struggles. Doughty, who has rarely suffered injuries in his NHL career, has played in a career low 39 games this season.

The Kings have lost 10 of their last 19 games and and holding their lead on Vegas Golden Knights by just two points in the standings.
