This just in courtesy of Toronto Maple Leafs insider Kristen Shilton, backup goaltender Michael Hutchinson is NOT at his team’s practice this morning leading fans and analysts to believe that the netminder could end up on waivers later today.

Starter Frederik Andersen is taking reps, along with recently acquired backup Jack Campbell, but Hutchinson is nowhere to be seen. If in fact Andersen is ready to return to the lineup tonight against the Dallas Stars, Hutchinson would be the odd man out and likely placed on waivers.

Check it out:

Interesting. It’s hard to imagine any team picking up Hutchinson at this point, given his struggles this season.

UPDATE: False alarm! Hutchinson has taken to the ice for his team’s practice.

Still… if Andersen is good to go, Hutchinson still likely walks the plank. Stay tuned.

UPDATE 2: Freddy is good to go. Bye bye, Hutch?
