On Tuesday as we headed into one of the longest nights in political history due to the epic showdown between Joe Biden and Donald Trump for the American presidency, former NHLer Todd Bertuzzi expressed himself on the election during Sportsnet 650’s morning show by saying that he will move back to Vancouver if Joe Biden wins the US Presidential Election.

“I tell you, it’s interesting times, especially for a Canadian living here,” said Bertuzzi. “I’ve been here for, I don’t know, about 15 years, 20 years total, and I’ve never seen anything like this. At some points in time, it’s a little bit terrifying — boarding up stores and all this kind of stuff… The U.S. is in a difficult time right now and hopefully, people get out there and vote and we put the right person in place.”
“I plan on living here unless someone gets in the presidency and I feel like I’m ready to go back to Canada,” said Bertuzzi.

He then might have realized he was taking a strong political stance and added:  “I’m always ready to go back to Canada.”

On Wednesday, as we still awaited the result of the elections, it was legendary goalie Dominik Hasek’s turn to comment on what’s happening in the States. He tweeted in Czech but here is what he said:

“Everyone speaks Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania …. Undoubtedly important, but the decision this time may come tomorrow from Nevada …. If all else goes to court, it’s another matter-another …”

He is of course referring to Donald Trump who falsely claimed victory in the presidential election in the wee hours despite no winner being declared and millions of votes waiting to be counted in several key battleground states — as  Joe Biden  urged Democrats to “keep the faith” and wait for the final results.

“We will be going to the U.S. Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop,” Trump said, ignoring the fact that voting did stop once polls closed across the country.

Hasek felt the need to comment, though anyone can interpret his comments in their own way.
