When we first heard of Mario Lemieux's son Austin, it was at a much somber time in his life.

Austin Lemieux was born premature and needed more than two months in the neonatal intensive care unit. That is why the Lemieux family started a foundation to give siblings a place to play in the hospital while babies in the NICU fight for stability. They called it “Austin’s Playrooms.”

But Austin made the most of the opportunities he had in life, and that includes tips on what to do on the ice. Being the son of Le Magnifique and having lived with Sidney Crosby for a few years when the star player stayed with the Lemieux at the start of his NHL career, he sure got a lot of advice for his hockey play.

It has paid off. Austin is now a member of the Arizona State Sun Devils and has carried his team to its first NCAA hockey tournament. The 22-year-old is in his first full season of college hockey, and has collected four goals and 13 points in 28 games this season.

He and his teammates will now play in the program’s first-ever NCAA tournament game.

“People say that I’m like my dad,” Austin said to the Washington Post. “And that I look more like him every day. I get his funny sense of humor. I’m more of a laid-back guy.”

And his team's next opponent doesn't seem to stress him out, though some people will see how it could. The Sun Devils will be facing off against Pennsylvania, the state Dad Mario loves most.

But we know Mario will cheer for his son and his team in their first ever NCAA tournament game!
