The hometown hero!

Patrick Maroon scored 5:50 into the second overtime to lead his St. Louis Blues past the Dallas Stars 2-1 in Game 7 of the second round series on Tuesday night to move on to the Western Conference finals.

The veteran forward was overtaken by emotions when he met with reporters after the game on the ice. He could barely hear them since the crowd in St. Louis was so loud, but managed to express how this was the most important goal of his career.

“This is the best goal of my life. My son was here tonight. Fiancée, friends.”

His son Anthony watched as his father led the Blues to the crucial win and couldn’t hold back his tears of happiness when his father scored the winning-goal.

As the crowd celebrated, Anthony wiped off tears with the sleeve of his jacket as he was comforted by Maroon’s fiancee. He stole the heart of everyone watching.

He was caught by surprise, he admitted after the win.

“I was looking at the page with all the players, where they’re from and all that stuff. All I heard was everybody scream. My friend turns around and says, ‘It’s your dad!’ I just started crying.”

It’s all about family and this is one of the many reasons why hockey is so great. What a great moment for the Maroon family!
