Max Domi slams former team, angers an entire city and fanbase

Domi not exactly hiding his feelings.

After a decade of dominance in the 2010s, there's not much left to cheer for if you're a Chicago Blackhawks fan these days.

The Blackhawks are in an 8 game losing skid and are dead last in the entire NHL with a dreadful 7-20-4 record. Franchise icons Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews each look like they have one foot out the door and the team's former 3rd overall pick Kirby Dach is absolutely tearing it up with the Montreal Canadiens. So again... it's not an easy time for Blackhawks fans these days.

But, while most players on the team have underachieved so far this season, veteran forward Max Domi has reinvigorated his career with some strong play. The 27 year old forward is second on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 21 points in 31 games. He was signed by the team to a one year, $3 million contract this past offseason and has delivered the Blackhawks with value on the dollar. Last season in a campaign that he split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Carolina Hurricanes, Domi put up just 11 goals and 39 points in 72 games. Ironically, he's putting up much better production on a much worse team in Chicago.

But, as we all know, sometimes guys just fit in a particular system and can't five with another. In Domi's case it sounds like his problem during his time in Columbus may have actually had to do with the city itself, though.

In a conversation with Blackhawks insider Mark Lazerus, Domi explained how much more excited he is for Christmas in Chicago than he was for Christmas in Columbus... because well... because it's Columbus.

From Lazerus:

"I'm pretty excited, actually. My whole family's here. I was in Columbus for two years, so I didn't get many visitors. All of a sudden I'm in a nice city, so my whole family wants to come. I don't know if it's me or the city."

Oh, please... please... PLEASE tell us your thoughts on when you were with the Arizona Coyotes...

In all seriousness, Blue Jackets fans online are riled up and have taken to defending their team and their city. To those fans though I say... just chill. Domi, like is father Tie, has always been a bit of a loudmouth. I wouldn't take much of what he has to say to heart.
