McDavid comments on one of the most frustrating regular season losses of his career.

Things are falling apart in Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers appear to be falling apart before our very eyes and as much as the fans of the team may find themselves frustrated with the organization's recent results, it appears as though the players themselves are even more so.

On Saturday night the Oilers appeared to be well on their way to snapping their 5 game losing streak through the first 2 periods of play, with the team heading into the second intermission with a solid 3 - 1 lead over the Ottawa Senators. Anyone who tuned into the game on Saturday night however knows that a win did not materialize in spite of that lead, with the Oilers collapsing in the game's third and final period as they got outscored 5 - 1 over the final 20 minutes of the game.

Even prior to this game there has been a narrative in Edmonton that something has to give, but in spite of that the Oilers have chosen to maintain the status quo keeping both head coach Dave Tippett in his role and neglecting to make any significant changes to the roster. Whatever the plan has been internally for the Oilers it clearly isn't working, with the team now rattling off 6 losses in a row, and the frustration of that was plain to see on the faces of the players who spoke to the media following the game.

A frustrated Connor McDavid had disappointment written all over his face when he made his post-game comments, and he appeared to be at a total loss for words when asked about what was going wrong.

"We come in and work ourselves to a 3 - 1 lead and give it away," said McDavid.

"I wish I had an answer for you there," said McDavid when asked what happened.

McDavid was asked if this was one of the most difficult regular season losses of his career, and he didn't shy away from admitting that it was.

"It's definitely up there... yeah," said McDavid.

Oilers veteran Zack Kassian also had some comments following the game and in his case they have led to quite a few questions. Like McDavid he admitted that he was frustrated at the ongoing situation, but was also somewhat cryptic in his answer.

"We’re a frustrated group. There’s not much being said right now. The writing’s on the wall," said Kassian.

Many have wondered what Kassian meant regarding the 'writing on the wall,' and quite frankly your guess is as good as mine.
