McQuaid gets text message from his assailant Shaw

After the vicious hit, Shaw had some words for the Jacket's defenseman.

Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella wanted a suspension, but Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw didn't even get a hearing with the department of Player Safety.

Defenseman Adam McQuaid got a massive headache, a potential injury and was informed today that he would not travel with the rest of his team. He at least all got a text from Shaw, his assailant in last night's game.

During the second period of the Jackets' win over the Habs last night, Shaw levelled McQuaid with a nasty elbow. The blue liner appeared to shaken up as Shaw got a forearm up high, yet all Shaw was assessed was a two minute minor for interference. The blue liner, who has a history of concussions, did not return to the game...

"Suspendable. Ridiculously suspendable," Tortorella said after the game.

We know that's what Torts said of the hit, but we don't know what Shaw told his victim after the game. The only thing he revealed to reporters on Friday is that he took the time to send a text message to McQuaid after the contest.

Knowing that Shaw too has a history of concussions, he probably checked on McQuaid and apologize for the hit.

Shaw has been suspended three times over his eight-year career, most recently in 2016 when he received a three-game ban for boarding. McQuaid also has a concussion history and we hope he feels better soon.
