Dallas GM is in “go-for-it” mode.

Monster trade incoming as GM openly talked about trading 3rd overall draft pick. Stars GM Jim Nill openly stated that he is in go-for-it mode and is willing to trade his third pick overall of the 2017 NHL entry Draft to acquire some immediate impact player.

I have talked to other teams already about possibly moving that pick, getting an established player back,” Jim Nill told SiriusXM’s NHL Network Radio, per NHL.com. “It gives us lots of options. I think this will heat up more as we go.

On reason why he’s open to make such a move is simple. It’s clear that Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier will be selected with the first two picks but it’s quite unclear and wide open after those two amazing players.

Probably a group of another 10 players, and that’s when it comes down to team personal preference,” Nill said. “Are you looking for a big strong centerman? Are you looking for a scoring winger? Are you looking for a power forward? There are lots of different options there.

3rd pick overall would bring an immediate impact players. Here are what third pick overall looked in the past and Jim Nill is certainly aware of this. This is why he won’t give it for free.

2013: Jonathan Drouin

2012: Alex Galchenyuk

2011: Jonathan Huberdau

2010: Erik Gudbranson

2009: Matt Duchene

2008: Zach Bogosian

2007: Kyle Turris

2006: Jonathan Toews

Could Dallas be tempted to trade their 3rd overall pick to acquire Matt Duchene? Which other players could Jim Nill be interested in that are openly on the market? Vatanen+? Fowler+? Tyson Barrie?
