Must See: Quick goes for the takedown, but Tkachuk rips his mask off!

Is it safe to say that the Kings still aren’t big Matthew Tkachuk fans?

Calgary Flames sophomore Matthew Tkachuk made yet another impression on the Los Angeles Kings last night as he scored two goals and was a thorn in the side of the opposition for the entire evening in the Flames’ 4-3 overtime victory.

Fans may remember that Tkachuk mixed it up with Kings defenceman Drew Doughty last season, which prompted the Kings star to call Tkachuk a “pretty dirty player”. Tkachuk, for what it’s worth, seems to relish the attention and only ramps up the intensity when the opposition calls him out. Take his exchange with Jonathan Quick from last night for example, while Quick tried to sweep Tkachuk’s legs out from under him, Tkachuk simply reached down and attempted to rip the mask of Quick’s face.

Flames fans, how much do you love this kid? He’s not afraid of ANYTHING and he gives the team a new dimension on their scoring lines. Fans have come to love and appreciate Micheal Ferland for the energy he brings, but he can’t hold a candle to the innate talent that Tkachuk displays. Look for more big goals and big hits from Tkachuk this season as he takes his game to the next level.
