While the Minnesota Wild crushed the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 on Tuesday night, the spotlight has been on Ryan Hartman and Evander Kane’s scrum on the ice.
It all started when Hartman’s teammate Kirill Kaprizov, who assisted both his goals last night, was cross-checked by Kane. The Oilers’ gritty forward was quickly surrounded by five Wild players before Hartman jumped at him during a scrap. That fight ended with Hartman flipping off Kane with a look of rage rarely seen on the ice.
Both earned roughing minors and 10-minute misconducts.
After the game, Hartman mentioned that if he were to get punished by the NHL, it would be well worth it.
On Wednesday morning, the NHL’s Player Safety announced that Hartman has been has been fined $4,250, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Unsportsmanlike Conduct during last night’s game against Edmonton.
That's a bargain to get to flip off Evander Kane if you ask me!
