It sounds like one of the league's most well-respected head coaches may soon be facing the headman's axe.

There were rumors that New York Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault could be fired as early as Tuesday night if the Rangers had lost their game to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, but despite the win it doesn't sound like Vigneault is safe.

TSN insider Darren Dreger recently commented on the state of the Rangers and, while he feels that "nothing imminent in terms of a firing," he does add the the signs for Vigneault are not good.

"We're not hearing anything from inside that dressing room," said Dreger, suggesting that they are giving up on the Ranger's head coach.

Despite the fact that he remains one of the most well-respected coaches in the National Hockey League it sounds like Vigneault's time in New York may soon be up. That being said you have to believe that if he is indeed fired by the Rangers, it won't be long before he finds another NHL head coaching gig.

While as stated earlier Dreger believes that nothing is imminent, he feels another prolonged losing streak could spell the end of the head coach.

"But anything is possible. Losing forces tough decisions."
