Edmonton Oilers head coach Dave Tippett has announced that centre Riley Sheahan has been placed in concussion protocol for at least a week.

Check it out:

Sheahan took a puck off the face last week (that ended up counting as a goal as a result) in a game against the Arizona Coyotes, but has since played and practiced with the team.

The 27 year old Sheahan signed with the Oilers this past offseason after splitting the 2018-19 campaign with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers. He’s expected to help solidify the team’s centre depth on the 3rd/4th lines this season. Suffice it to say, this isn’t the start that Sheahan or the Oilers were hoping for. Here’s hoping he can shake off the effects and get back on the ice no worse for wear.
